With our “Woodland Walk & Lunch” tour, we’ve carved our one of the most popular activities of our longer tours and made it into a half-day program. With our expert guide, Adio, we’ll walk through the woods that form the borderlands of Umbria, Tuscany and Lazio, learn about flora and fauna, and get a history lesson in how human activity have shaped these lands. The walk concludes at a loved osteria in the woods, where we’ll enjoy a bountiful lunch with appetizers, pasta, a meat course and dessert. And this is Villaggio Tours, after all, so the wine is included! 

Please note: Tours can be booked on-demand based on restaurant and guide availability, and require a minimum of four guests.

A half-day of hiking & Umbrian hospitality
  • 10 a.m. Meet Liz and our guide Adio at the designated meeting point, and enjoy a quick coffee before we hit the trail.
  • 10:15 a.m. We’ll set off on a gentle hike with little elevation change and lots of breaks. Adio will explain how the Umbrian “bosco,” or woods, has changed over time, talk about its flora and fauna, and point out evidence of human history dating back more than 1,000 years.
  • 12.30 p.m. We’ll arrive back where we started — a cozy osteria in the woods, where we’ll enjoy a leisurely multi-course lunch of traditional Umbrian specialties made with locally sourced ingredients. Unlimited wine included, and note that we can accommodate most dietary requirements! 
    *We can also adjust our scheduling if you’d like a longer hike or later lunch.
